š Diamonds & Gemstones
Are your diamonds certified?
Yes. We supply certified natural and lab-grown diamonds from internationally recognised grading laboratories, including GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and IGI (International Gemological Institute). A diamond certificate independently assesses the stone's cut, colour, clarity and carat weight, giving you confidence in exactly what you're purchasing. Every certified diamond will be supplied with its original grading report. If you're unsure whether a particular diamond includes certification, simply contact us and we'll be happy to advise.
What's the difference between GIA and IGI?
GIA and IGI are two of the world's leading independent diamond grading laboratories. GIA is widely recognised as the global benchmark for grading natural diamonds and is known for its strict and consistent grading standards. IGI is one of the most respected laboratories for lab grown diamonds and also grades natural diamonds. Both laboratories provide independent reports detailing a diamond's cut, colour, clarity and carat weight. Choosing between GIA and IGI usually depends on the type of diamond you're purchasing rather than one laboratory being better than the other.
Do you sell both natural and lab grown diamonds?
Yes. The Carat Club supplies both natural diamonds and lab grown diamonds, allowing you to choose the option that best suits your budget, preferences and project. Whether you're searching for a certified loose diamond, calibrated melee, matched pairs or coloured gemstones, we offer carefully selected stones for both jewellery professionals and private customers.
What are lab grown diamonds?
Lab grown diamonds are real diamonds created using advanced technology in carefully controlled laboratory environments. They have exactly the same chemical composition, physical properties and optical brilliance as natural diamonds. The only difference is how they're formedānatural diamonds develop underground over billions of years, while lab grown diamonds are produced over a period of weeks. Because they're genuine diamonds, lab grown stones can be graded, certified and used in jewellery in exactly the same way as natural diamonds.
Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds?
Yes. Lab grown diamonds are genuine diamonds, not diamond simulants such as cubic zirconia or moissanite. They are made from pure carbon and share the same hardness, brilliance and durability as mined diamonds. Even trained gemologists require specialist equipment to distinguish between natural and lab grown diamonds. The only difference is their origin.
What's the difference between HPHT and CVD lab grown diamonds?
HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) and CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) are the two main methods used to create lab grown diamonds. Both processes produce genuine diamonds with the same physical and optical properties as natural diamonds. The manufacturing process itself doesn't determine the beauty or quality of the finished stone. Instead, factors such as cut, colour, clarity and overall craftsmanship remain the most important considerations when choosing any diamond.
Are lab grown diamonds environmentally friendly?
Lab grown diamonds eliminate the need for traditional mining but still require significant amounts of energy during production. Natural diamonds, meanwhile, support thousands of jobs and communities around the world through responsible mining operations. Rather than claiming one option is universally more sustainable, we believe it's important that customers have clear information to help them choose the diamond that best aligns with their priorities, values and budget.
Are your diamonds ethically sourced?
Yes. Responsible sourcing is extremely important to us. We only work with trusted suppliers who follow strict ethical sourcing standards, and all natural diamonds supplied by The Carat Club comply with the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme. Our commitment is to supply diamonds with integrity, transparency and complete confidence. You can learn more by visiting Our Commitment to Responsible Sourcing page.
What is the Kimberley Process?
The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme designed to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the global diamond supply chain. Participating countries certify shipments of rough diamonds before they enter the market, helping ensure they originate from legitimate and conflict-free sources. The Carat Club only works with suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process and responsible sourcing practices.
What are conflict-free diamonds?
Conflict-free diamonds are diamonds that have been sourced and traded in accordance with international regulations designed to prevent the funding of armed conflict. Every natural diamond supplied by The Carat Club is sourced through trusted suppliers who comply with the Kimberley Process and our own ethical sourcing standards.
